Now in their post-election diaspora, they're plotting out their next career moves. Some are working in politics, business, media, and nonprofits. Others are considering what it'll take to launch another presidential bid as early as 2024.

Here's what the Democratic presidential primary candidates and 25 of their key campaign staffers are up to as their one-time rival prepares for Inauguration Day:

Andrew Yang, likely contender for New York City mayor

The "Yang Gang" still exists and could bolster Yang's chances as he mulls a run for New York City mayor.

The 45-year old tech entrepreneur who had no experience running for president surprised many during the 2020 White House campaign. Now he's considering a run in the Big Apple's June 22 primary and has filed the early paperwork.

Yang, who lives in New York, says he'll decide what's next after January's Senate races in Georgia. That's where he is temporarily residing as he tries to help Democrats win the two Peach State runoffs and with it control of the upper chamber on Capitol Hill.

A recent poll showed Yang leading among contenders for the mayor of the nation's most populous city.

Biden has had Yang's name in the mix for administration posts too. After running against Biden in the primaries, Yang became a loyal supporter of his former Democratic foe and joined the general election campaign as a member of an advisory board on small businesses and entrepreneurship.

Zach Graumann, Yang campaign manager

Graumann served as Yang's campaign manager in 2020. He remains a senior advisor to the former candidate, now mulling a run for New York City mayor.

Graumann is also the leader of Yang's non-profit Humanity Forward, which last month, along with the $1K Project, helped provide $3 million to 1,000 families struggling amid the coronavirus pandemic. Graumann is also co-founder and chair of SuitUp Incorporated, a non-profit that brings companies to schools to teach low-income students career and marketing skills.

Marianne Williamson, podcast host and Newsweek contributor

Though a long-shot candidate, Williamson excited many following the 2020 campaigns with her unconventional ideas on how to approach a myriad of issues including the US healthcare crisis.

The spiritual advisor, political activist and author has 2.8 million Twitter followers.

She recently launched a podcast which helps viewer "go deeper" into a variety of topics.

Her guests so far have included former 2020 rival Yang, as well as authors Michael Lewis and Sue Monk Kidd.

Williamson is also a columnist for Newsweek.

Maurice Daniel, Williamson campaign manager

The veteran political strategist has remained at the consulting company called Metro Strategies where he's been the principal since 2014.

He's also advising Gain Power, a networking social platform for Democratic campaigns.

Daniel previously worked for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and as chief of staff to Illinois Rep. Bobby Rush.

He also served as a political director in Ohio in 1996 for Bill Clinton's presidential campaign and was worked as as then Vice President Al Gore's national political director.

Tulsi Gabbard, former Hawaii congresswoman

Gabbard opted against running for reelection to Congress so she could campaign for president. The 39-year old's represented Hawaii's 2nd Congressional District starting in 2013 and easily won her 2018 election.

Before her term ended in January, Gabbard had teamed up with Republican Rep. Thomas Massie to introduce legislation to repeal the Patriot Act. The duo argued that surveillance under that law violates civil liberties and Americans' right to privacy.

She also took a strong pro-life stance on the way out by introducing legislation that would prohibit most abortions after 20 weeks.

It's not clear yet what lies ahead for Gabbard now that her Capitol Hill career has ended.

Rania Batrice, Gabbard campaign manager

Batrice is partner at The Win Company, which helps advise political campaigns.

Batrice who describes herself as a first-generation Palestinian was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas, in a conservative family although she grew up to embrace progressive ideals.

She has worked as a political operative for more than 20 years, including as national director of surrogates and deputy campaign manager for Bernie Sanders' 2016 presidential run.

Sen. Cory Booker, New Jersey Democrat

The New Jersey Democrat just started his second full term after receiving more votes in November than any statewide candidate in New Jersey history, according to results from the state's Division of Elections.

Come 2021, he's expected to have a prominent perch sitting on key Senate committees dealing with foreign affairs, the Justice Department, small business, infrastructure, and the environment.

Booker was once seen as a potentially formidable presidential candidate but he didn't have such a strong showing in the 2020 primaries. It's not clear whether he'll attempt another run for the White House.

Addisu Demissie, Cory Booker's campaign manager

Demissie is now a director for basketball superstar LeBron James' nonprofit, More Than A Vote. The organization works to combat "systemic, racist voter suppression." The voting rights group helped to sign up 10,000 volunteer poll workers for the presidential election.

He's also a principal at San Francisco-based 50+1 Strategies.

Biden's general election campaign this year tapped Demissie as one of two top advisors in charge of planning the largely virtual Democratic National Convention.

Demissie started his political career working for John Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign in Iowa. He later joined Obama's 2008 presidential campaign, as well as that of Hillary Clinton in 2016. He's also worked on the campaigns of former Virginia Gov. Terry McAullife's and California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Tom Steyer, businessman and activist

After suspending his presidential campaign in late February 2020, the billionaire philanthropist and environmental activist said he'd work to help defeat Trump and elect Biden.

Since then, he's served as a co-chair of Biden's Climate Engagement Advisory Council.

Steyer and his wife Kat Taylor have also been actively supporting those affected by the pandemic with community engagement efforts and contributions.

He also serves as a volunteer chief advisor to California's Newsom on business and jobs recovery, and as chair of the California governor's business and jobs recovery task force.

Heather Hargreaves, Steyer's campaign manager

Hargreaves is now a senior advisor for the League of Conservation Voters, an advocacy group that pushes for environmentally-friendly policies and supports candidates who share its vision. She started there in June 2020 after Steyer had dropped out of the race.

Before working as Steyer's campaign manager, Hargreaves served as executive director at NextGen America, a political action committee created by the billionaire philanthropist. The organization spent more than $75 million to support progressive candidates in 2018.

Hargreaves also worked for both of Obama's presidential campaigns.

Mike Bloomberg, billionaire and former New York mayor

Bloomberg spent $1.1 billion on his short-lived presidential run. When that faltered, he doled out another $100 million on voter turnout efforts in Florida to help Biden win.

The former New York City mayor and founder of Bloomberg LP gave $18 million in leftover campaign funds to the Democratic National Committee and transferred 13 of his campaign office leases to state parties.

Bloomberg is now backing former Miami Mayor Manny Diaz to lead the Florida Democratic Party. And he's still busy running his media company, Bloomberg L.P. which includes Bloomberg News, Bloomberg TV, and Bloomberg Radio.

Kevin Sheekey, Bloomberg campaign manager

The longtime Bloomberg ally and political advisor pens Sheekeydaily.com, a daily roundup of news and culture stories.

Sheekey is currently the global head of communications, government relations and marketing for Bloomberg L.P. He also served as Bloomberg's campaign manager for his 2020 run and managed Bloomberg's three runs for mayor of New York.

Sheekey also worked as deputy mayor for government affairs when Bloomberg ran New York City.

Elizabeth Warren, Massachusetts senator

The Massachusetts senator will be a potent voice for progressives during the Biden era.

The 71-year old is releasing a book called "Persist" on April 20. She will also likely be pushing many of the priorities she championed on the 2020 White House campaign trail, including a call to cancel student loan debt and an anti-corruption campaign aimed at barring members of Congress from owning or trading in individual stocks.

Warren also could still run for president again in 2024. She certainly wouldn't be the oldest candidate — her former 2020 rival and eventual winner Biden holds that title at age 78.

Whether she'd try, though, is a whole other story; Biden still hasn't said what his plans are for a second term and party leaders would presumably push for Vice President-elect Kamala Harris to be considered next in line for the top spot on the Democratic ticket.

Bharat Ramamurti, Warren campaign economic policy advisor

Warren's longtime advisor on the economy just scored an appointment from Biden as deputy director of the National Economic Council.

Ramamurti currently serves as a member of the COVID-19 Congressional Oversight Commission, which is tasked with overseeing the management of stimulus and loan programs under the CARES Act.

Roger Lau, Warren campaign manager

The Massachusetts-based Lau still serves as a senior advisor to Warren.

He helped manage two of her Senate elections and in 2020 made history as one of the first two Asian-American presidential campaign managers for a major US candidate. Lau starting his career working for John Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign. He also worked on Kerry's 2008 Senate reelection campaign.

Bernie Sanders, Vermont senator

Sanders, just like Warren, was a vocal and key surrogate for Biden after dropping his bid for president in April.

Sanders has since become a vocal critic of some of Biden's Cabinet appointments, saying he doesn't think the president-elect is doing enough to amplify progressive voices.

He's also been actively pushing for stimulus payments for Americans most affected by the pandemic in the latest relief bill.

Sanders would be 83 in 2024 — hardly a show-stopper in the current political environment, should he choose to run for president once again.

Jeff Weaver, Sanders advisor and 2016 presidential campaign manager

Weaver last year year founded the Future to Believe In PAC, which helped to support Biden's campaign after Sanders dropped out of the primary.

The PAC also advocates for more progressive policies and helped rally Sanders' supporters to vote for Biden.

Weaver, a political strategist, served as Sanders' 2016 president campaign manager and as an advisor to Sanders' 2020 run. He previously served as the campaign manager for the Vermont senator's 2006 Senate election and as chief of staff in Sanders' House and Senate office.

Weaver was president of Our Revolution, the political organization created by Sanders, from August 2016 until June 2017.

Chuck Rocha, Sanders advisor

Rocha served as a senior advisor for both of Sen. Bernie Sanders' presidential runs, focusing on Latino outreach. He has since gone on to help found the Future to Believe In PAC along with fellow Sanders advisors Tim Tagaris, Shelli Jackson and Mark Longabaugh.

In August, Rocha released a book, "Tío Bernie: The Inside Story of How Bernie Sanders Brought Latinos into The Political Revolution," which told the story of his efforts to win Latino voters for Sanders.

Pete Buttigieg, former mayor of South Bend, Indiana

Buttigieg is very busy making history.

Biden in December announced he would nominate the former South Bend, Indiana mayor to become his Transportation secretary.

If confirmed, Buttigieg would become the first openly gay LGBTQ Cabinet secretary in US history. The administration post may also help bolster his chances for another presidential run in the future.

After dropping out of the 2020 race, the 38-year old became a well-liked and vocal surrogate for Biden, often appearing on cable news shows to bolster support for his former rival. He was also among the top fundraisers for Biden.

Mike Schmuhl, Buttigieg campaign manager

Schmuhl is a director at Heartland Ventures, where he works on brand development and investor relations. The company helps to connect high-tech startups with businesses and customers in the Midwest.

Schmuhl managed Rep. Joe Donnelly's 2010 congressional reelection campaign and Buttigieg's 2011 mayoral campaign. Schmuhl also ran for Democratic chairman for Indiana's 2nd congressional district and won in 2011. He also served as Buttigieg's mayoral chief of staff. He advised congressional candidates before becoming Buttigieg's 2020 presidential campaign manager.

Schmuhl and Buttigieg were high school friends.

Amy Klobuchar, Minnesota senator

Klobuchar's national profile rose with her 2020 presidential campaign.

She's back in the Senate, serving on several committees including Judiciary, as well as the Commerce, Science and Transportation committees. She's also the top Democratic senator on the committee organizing Biden's January inauguration.

And don't count out the 60-year-old Minnesotan for future White House tries, perhaps as early as 2024.

Julia Kennedy, Klobuchar deputy campaign manager

After her boss dropped out of the 2020 race, Kennedy joined the Biden campaign as director of opinion research and strategy.

Before working for Klobuchar, Kennedy worked on several other campaigns, including Wisconsin Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin's 2018 re-election effort.

Steve Bullock, former Montana governor

Bullock left office in January after two terms as governor and one term as attorney general in Montana.

In a recent interview with Montana Public Radio, Bullock said he had no plans to re-enter political life at the moment.

"I am looking forward, in certain respects, to January 4th," Bullock said in an MtPR interview. "I will be staying in Montana, still have kids in middle school and high school. So, I don't really anticipate doing anything in Washington, D.C. in the upcoming years."

Jenn Ridder, Bullock campaign manager

After Bullock dropped out of the 2020 race, the Biden campaign hired Ridder as its national states director, with a focus on battleground states.

Ridder managed Bullock's presidential campaign and previously ran Jared Polis' run for Colorado governor.

Ridder is the daughter of veteran Democratic pollster Rick Ridder, who managed Howard Dean's 2004 presidential race.

Julian Castro, former HUD secretary

Castro is among the highest-profile Latino politicians in the US, and another run for president is not out of the question.

The former Obama administration secretary of Housing and Urban Development recently stumped for Georgia Senate candidate Jon Ossoff in the must-win race for Democrats.

Castro has been a vocal advocate for diversity in politics. He has called Biden's appointment choices so far "a work in progress," and also criticized the lack of diverse voices in speakers at the 2020 Democratic National Convention over the summer.

"There were no Native Americans, no Muslim Americans," Castro told NPR. His committee assignments include agriculture, nutrition and forestry finance and intelligence.

Bennet's legislative priorities include reforming the child tax credit, which is currently only refundable for people who earn under $2,500. Under his plan, which is also supported by Sen. Mitt Romney, parents would get a guaranteed $1.500 in cash every year per child under the age of 6, no matter how much they make, and $1,000 per child aged 6 to 17.

Bennet also focused some of his presidential campaign on unemployment reform, and he will also be seeking changes in a system that saw its fair share of difficulties this year as millions sought help during the pandemic.

The Colorado senator announced his run for president in May 2019 and dropped out in February 2020.

Shannon Beckham, Bennet national press secretary

Beckham now works in communications at Schmidt Futures, the philanthropic initiative started by former Google CEO Eric Schmidt.

She went from speechwriting intern to landing a speech and policy job with Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign.
