Isaiah Briscoe Becomes 4th Kentucky Player to Declare for 2017 NBA Draft

Published by Bleacher Report on Thu, 06 Apr 2017

Kentucky Wildcats guard Isaiah Briscoe will enter the 2017 NBA draft.Briscoe announced the news Thursday on Twitter:ESPN.com's Jeff Goodman noted he's the fourth Kentucky player to declare for the NBA draft, joining Bam Adebayo,De'Aaron Fox and Malik Monk.Briscoe averaged 12.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game as a sophomore. His decision to look for representation is somewhat surprising since it will preclude him from returning to the Wildcats, and he's not considered one of the top talents in this year's draft class.Bleacher Report'sJonathan Wassermandidn't list Briscoe among the top 50 players in his most recent big board, and ESPN.com'sChad Forddidn't rate him among the top 100 players. In his two years with Kentucky, Briscoe shot 22.9 percent from three-point range. ESPN's Fran Fraschilla thought his poor shooting numbers will be a big hurdle to climb before draft night:Sporting News' Sam Vecenie and SB Nation's Nick Fasulo countered, however, the timing is right for Briscoe to leave the Wildcats:Briscoe, Adebayo, Monk and Fox are big losses for Kentucky, but as is the case every year, head coach John Calipari is reloading with another crop of blue-chip recruits.According toScout, Kentucky has the best recruiting class in the nation, with five players in the top 25: shooting guardHamidou Diallo (No. 10), power forwardsP.J. Washington (No. 13) andJarred Vanderbilt (No. 14), center Nick Richards (No. 16) and point guardQuade Green (No. 24).For more news, rumors and related stories aboutIsaiah Briscoe, the Kentucky Wildcatsand college basketball, check out thecollege basketballandKentuckystreams on Bleacher Report's app.
