Manchester United have reportedly inquired into the availability of Bayern Munich's versatile starlet Joshua Kimmich.According to Kicker (h/t Glen Williams of the MailOnline), the Red Devils are admirers of the 22-year-old, who has only made 10 starts for the German champions in the Bundesliga this season. Not only is he technically skilled and dynamic, his versatility has been an asset for manager Carlo Ancelotti and predecessor Pep Guardiola.Kimmich's best position is in the heart of midfield, where he can buzz around finding space, link the play together and use his passing range to dictate the course of the contest. But he's also excelled as a centre-back during his time at the club, and with the Germany national team, he's been brilliant as a right-back.Typically, Kimmich does a fine job in any of the roles he fulfils. The 22-year-old defender is said to have grown frustrated at falling behind Stefan Savic in the pecking order at the Vicente Calderon.Gimenez has long been rated as one of the most exciting young defenders in the game and has been key to Atletico being so tight at the back in recent seasons. However, the player's aggressive style has led to injury issues, while Savic's improvement has seen him emerge as an ideal partner for Diego Godin.Nevertheless, as WhoScored.com noted here, when he's started, Diego Simeone's side rarely concede:The centre-back position could do with strengthening in the summer for United, with the likes of Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo below the standard required for a side seeking to challenge at the summit of European football.
