Suleiman Hassans Nomination As Minister Commendable

Published by Leadership on Fri, 31 Mar 2017

The nomination of Suleiman Zarma Hassan by President Muhammadu Buhari as minister-designate from Gombe State to replace the vacancy left by former minister of Environment, Amina Mohammed who is now the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) was greeted with wild jubilation in the North-east state. To those who dont know, Hassan is well loved by his people and his nomination could not have come at a better time than now.The belief is that as a close ally of the President from their All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) to the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) days, President Buhari has seen in Hassan a very competent, focused and qualified Nigerian who will help to drive his Change Agenda to Nigerians. The minister-designate possesses the requisite qualification and experience to serve in Buharis government. To drive this point home, the President first nominated Hassan as non-career ambassador, he was screened and cleared by the Senate but the President nonetheless sent his name to the Senate again as a ministerial nominee where he thinks his services will be more useful. His rich resume attest to the fact that Suleiman Hassan will be a big asset to the Buharis administration and will function very well in whatever position or ministry he is posted to. The minister-designate, a professional surveyor by all standards was born in Bauchi, Bauchi State on 15th February, 1958.Hassan who has been the Registrar, Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SURCON) from August 2015 till date started his elementary education at St. Michael Primary School, Bosso, Minna Niger State in from 1965 to 1966.He finished his primary school education at LEA Primary School, Unguwan Rimi Kaduna between 1967 and 1971.He had his secondary school education at Government Secondary School, Zaria City from 1972 to 1976 before proceeding to Kaduna Polytechnic College of Environment Studies. He was at different times at the Polytechnic in 1976/77, 1980/81, 1986 to 1988 and 1991 to 1993 for studies. He also attended the Federal School of Surveying, Oyo in 1982/83 session.
