Community Decries Activities of Sea pirates, Cultists in A/Ibom

The people of Oron in Akwa Ibom have risen in unison in condemning theactivities of sea pirates in their ways after several traders andpassengers have been robbed and raped by the marauders.Coming under the aegis of Oro Elders Forum, the Elders in a communiquissued yesterday in Uyo and endorsed by its leader.Ambassador Etim Okpoyo, a former deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State and theSecretary Hon. Asukwo Odiong in the same vein denounced the activities ofvarious cult groups operating and unleashing mayhem on innocent people intheir communities.The Elders lamented that the activities of the sea pirates are adverselyaffecting the economic life of the people of Akwa Ibom State and urged thestate and Federal Government as well as all security agencies to increasesurveillance in their water-ways.They commended the Nigeria Police Force on their efforts to check theactivities of cultists in the area but urged them to redouble their effortsto stem the tide.The forum in their communiqu expressed gratitude to Governor Udom Emmanuelfor the ongoing dualisation of Oron-Uyo road and appealed for thoroughsupervision and timely completion of the high way.They also expressed immense gratitude to President Mohamadu Buhari for theappointment of two of their sons Engr. Ita Awak and Engr. Benedict Ukponginto Federal Commissions and plead with Mr. President to extend theeast-West road through Oron to Calabar.Oron elders prayed for good health and Gods continuous guidance for Mr.President as he continue the performance of his constructional duties toNigeria
