Published by Huffington Post on Tue, 28 Mar 2017

Its 2017 ' cant two female world leaders meet without their bodies making headlines'Londons Daily Mail, in a preview for Tuesdays front page, features a photo of U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May meeting with Scotlands First Minister Nicola Sturgeon. The headline: Never mind Brexit, who won Legs-it!Tuesday's @DailyMailUK #MailFrontPages pic.twitter.com/QepUfSKKYN Daily Mail U.K. (@DailyMailUK) March 27, 2017 The focus on womens legs was a peculiar editorial choice, given the meetings importance for the future of Scotland and the U.K.May and Sturgeon met a day ahead of the devolved Scotish assemblys resumption of debate over whether the country will again seek independence from the U.K. The assembly is expected to give Sturgeon the authority to seek a second independence referendum after the failure of a 2014 vote, Reuters reported.Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn and others scoffed at the Daily Mails coverage. It's 2017. This sexism must be consigned to history. Shame on the Daily Mail. pic.twitter.com/V3RpFSgfnO Jeremy Corbyn MP (@jeremycorbyn) March 27, 2017 Breaking news: two women have four legs between them. Forget their brains - utterly immaterial. What a rag #DailyFail pic.twitter.com/J9MqbziY5Q Humza Yousaf (@HumzaYousaf) March 27, 2017 We're living in the most political unstable era of my lifetime, and the Daily Mail are writing sexist articles about our leader's legs. pic.twitter.com/54uAuAE9Sp Angry Salmond (@AngrySalmond) March 27, 2017 And, as Gizmodo UK editor James OMalley pointed out, its not even a good pun.Their' legs'. are'. exiting' the EU' Brexit is a competition that can be won' I realise this isn't the most important thing but c'mon.
