Marc Gasol Out vs. Warriors with Injured Left Foot, Zach Randolph to Start

As the Memphis Grizzlies continue their march toward the postseason, an injury to Marc Gasol's foot has the team holding its breath.According to Rob Fischer of Fox Sports Southeast, Gasol will miss Sunday's game against the Golden State Warriors due to a strain in his left foot. Zach Randolph will get the start in his place.It will only be Randolph's fourth start of the season, although the veteran is more than capable of playing extended minutes when needed.The Grizzlies' 2015-16 season was undone in February when Gasol underwent surgery to repair a fractured bone in his right foot that caused him to miss the last 30 games and their playoff series against the San Antonio Spurs.Gasol has shown no lingering effects from the injury this season. He's averaging career-highs in points (19.9) and assists (4.6) per game for a Memphis team that is comfortably in the playoff race once again.Losing Gasol puts a serious dent in head coach David Fizdale's offense. The Grizzlies aren't a dynamic scoring team, averaging 101 points per game and ranking 18th in offensive efficiency, per Basketball Reference.Mike Conley and Randolph are the only other Grizzlies averaging more than 10 points per game. This is a team built on defense and getting the most out of its main trio of stars on the offensive end.Gasol is the glue that holds the machine together, so losing him for any length of time puts the Grizzlies in a bind heading into the season's final stretch.
