Unlimited Challenges Reportedly to Be Proposed to NFL Competition Committee

Among the potential rule changes being mulled over heading into the NFL's annual league meeting is the use of unlimited challenges.Per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, the NFL competition committee is considering a proposal from the Washington Redskins for unlimited challenges as long asthey're successful.Under the current rule, adopted in 2004, teams start games with two challenges and are given a third if the first two are successful.The NFL will be hearing many proposals for potential rule changes at the league meeting, which begins Sunday and runs through Wednesday in Phoenix. Smithreportedlast week the Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks will propose challenges for all penalties (i.e. false starts, pass interferences, etc.)."That is a significant change to our current replay rule, and it is something that will be on the floor and will be debated and voted on next week,"NFL head of officiating Dean Blandino said.For a proposedrule to be implemented, there must be at least75 percent support (24 votes) from team owners.
