Jack Wilshere Reportedly Interested in AC Milan Transfer If Arsene Wenger Stays

Published by Bleacher Report on Sun, 26 Mar 2017

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere will reportedly seek a transfer to Italian giants AC Milan during the summer if Arsene Wenger stays on as Gunners manager and decides to sell the 25-year-old.According to the Mail on Sunday's Alex Miller, Wilshere wants to follow in the footsteps of England international Joe Hart, who moved to Torino on loan from Manchester City at the start of the season and has kept his place in the national team.Wilshere is currently on loan at Bournemouth, where he started the season in excellent form but has hit a rough patch since. According to the report, former England great David Beckham advised the midfielder to give the Rossoneri a go after his positive experiences in Milan.Dean Jones previously reported there was Italian interest in the former England international:Miller suggests Wilshere is still a "top target" for Milan, which would come as quite a surprise. He's no longer a regular starter for the Cherries, while Milan have the ambition to qualify for the UEFA Champions League and feature star youngster Manuel Locatelli in his favoured midfield spot.Per the report, Watford, Crystal Palace, Roma and Benfica are also interested in Wilshere, who seems all but certain to leave Arsenal for good during the summer. The once-promising prospect has fallen down the pecking order in the last few years, as a series of injuries stunted his development.Wilshere was long regarded as England's top prospect in central midfield, but long stints on the sidelines and ineffectiveness when he returned to the pitch have dramatically altered the perception surrounding him.The rise of Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli didn't help, and per bet365, the stats don't paint a pretty picture in the battle between the two:Wilshere still has bags of talent and has flashed his ability at times this season, so whichever club ends up signing him could come away with a steal. It's why there likely will be some competition for his signature this summer, even if most of the attention is expected to come from England.Hart showed a foreign move can be an excellent alternative, but Torino is a far smaller club and a more realistic destination than Milan.
