Kwararafa Varsity:I ll Follow Due ProcessDanjuma

Published by Leadership on Wed, 22 Mar 2017

The former minister of Defence, Lt-Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd) has said that he would follow due process in taking over the Kwararafa university, Wukari as requested by the university community.Danjuma told newsmen on Tuesday in Jalingo that he would follow due process so as to avoid flouting the laws establishing the institution. The chancellor of the university, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu, who is the Andoma of Doma, had at the maiden convocation of the university on Saturday in Wukari, appealed to Danjuma to take over the university and reposition it to meet the academic needs of the people. While making the request, the chancellor, applauded Danjuma for his tremendous support to the university and other federal and state owned universities in the country.Your intervention has become necessary to help tackle the funding and infrastructural challenges facing the university, he said. The retired general however, said he was not in hurry to grant the request saying, he would do what was reasonable after a thorough check to find out if the community had the legal rights to hand over the university to him.The university, I am made to understand, is owned by the Kwararafa investment company and is being quoted on the Nigerian stock exchange. So it will only be right to follow due process in order not to break the laws establishing the institution.
