Deji Visits Obansanjo, Makes Case For Federal Appointments For Akure Indigenes

The Deji and paramount rule of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelsui, Odundun II and some notable leaders in Akure at the weekend paid a scheduled visit to the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, at his Hill top mansion in Abeokuta.The Monarch who was on a familiarization visit to the former President described him as a gift to the Yoruba nation, Nigeria and the entire World.Oba Ogunlade lamented that since the exit of the former SGF, Chief Olu Falae from the federal cabinet, no Akure indigene has been appointed at the Federal level either as a Minister or Chairman of a federal board. He then appealed to the former President to assist in ensuring that an Akure indigene is considered for a federal appointment by this present administration.While responding, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo congratulated Oba Aladetoyinbo for transforming Akure and for the peace being enjoyed since he ascended the throne of his forebears.I have read much about you and how you have been setting the pace among other traditional rulers to ensure peace prevails.I can see that you are a lover of your people and leaving no stone unturned at ensuring the development of your people.Chief Obasanjo described Akure as his second home and that he remains an integral part of Akure. Chief Obasanjo recalled his good working relationship with the Akure community.The former president said that considering the number of highly intelligent and qualified sons and daughters of Akure as well as the strategic position which Akure holds, Kabiyesis concern is valid and should be supported by everyone to promote inclusiveness.Chief Obasanjo thanked Oba Aladetoyinbo for the visit and promised to pay similar visit to his palace.Oba Aladetoyinbo used the occasion of the visit to congratulate Chief Obasanjo on his 80th birthday celebration.Oba Aladetoyinbo was accompanied on the visit by his High Chiefs and other notable indigenes of the town including Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, who was recently named the SSG in the state, Engr. Tunji Light Ariyomo, the former United Kingdom Coordinator of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, Hon Dayo Awude, Hon Kemisola Adesanya, a member of the House of Assembly, Col. Falaiyi (Rtd), Chief Luyi Rotimi, Engr. Sunday Falae among others.
