NSCDC, Others Begin Evacuation Of Kaduna Destitute For Rehabilitation

In a bid to control the menace of destitution in Kaduna metropolis, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in collaboration with other agencies and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development have on Friday begun evacuation of destitute for rehabilitation at Makarfi destitute camp.State commandant of the corps, Alhaji Modu Bunu, while briefing personnel of the command before deployment, urged them to ensure high discipline, diligence and synergy in discharging their duties.According to Bunu, the corps has track records in law enforcement, citing uncompromising stance of the corps in anti-vandalism drive, pump-price of petroleum products among others achievements, stressing that nothing short of that will be condoned.The commandant noted specifically that the operatives alongside others are required to assist in evacuating destitute from the metropolis and conveying them to Kakuri from where they will be moved to Makarfi destitute camp.In a statement signed by state NSCDC spokesman, ASC11 Orndiir Terzungwe said the decision to evacuate destitute from the metropolis was taken during the core security council meeting held on March 7 and 14
