Ahead of a planned National Congress of the Youth Wing of Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has called on the youth to shun all acts of violence and embrace peace.TheState Commandant of the Corps, Alhaji Modu Bunu, gave the charge when the executive members of the union paid him a courtesy call preparatory for the congress slated for February 25.Bunu decried the dimension in which the southern Kaduna crisis has assumed, describing it as very dangerous and unhealthy for any form of development to take place. He described youth as future leaders and most vulnerable group and called on them to organize their self and counter all hate speeches perpetrated either in churches or mosques, reiterating that violence is inimical to peaceful co-existence.The Commandant commended the tireless efforts of the state government in ending the crisis and by providing communication facilities in volatile areas to assist security agencies in tackling the problem.Earlier in his presentation, National Coordinator of the Youth Wing, Comrade Nasiru Jagaba, decried the relationship between Christians and Muslims in the area, noting that it has diminished beyond description in the last two years. On his part, Chairman of the Security Committee, Yada Daniel Chris, said Southern Kaduna and the people are facing difficult times in their history. He however, pledged the readiness of the youth to collaborate with NSCDC and other agencies in intelligence gathering and sharing towards ending the crisis that has brought a halt to social, economic and all forms of activities.
