Nasarawa Assembly Passes N69.9bn Appropriation For 2017

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly yesterday passed the states 2017 Appropriation Bill of N69.9 billion into law.The speaker of the House, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi announced the passage of the bill during the house proceeding in Lafia after the Majority Leader of the House, Mr. Tanko Tunga (APC-Awe North) moved the motion for the speedy passage of the bill into the law.Balarabe-Abdullahi commended his colleagues for giving the budget speedy consideration, urging them to closely monitor the implementation of the fiscal policy for effective result so as to improve on the standard of living of the people of the state.We hereby pass into law the 2017 bill to the total sum ofN69,971,427,596 of which N31,347,679,220 is for capital expenditure while N38,623,748,376 is for recurrent expenditure, the speaker said.The House of Assembly has raised the state 2017 appropriation bill of by N2.9billion from N67.1 bi llion presented to the house by Governor Al-Makura for consideration and approval to N69.9billion.The upward review in the budget was to take care in some vital areas to enable the state government provide the much needed dividend of democracy to the electorate, he said.Balarabe-Abdullahi urged Ministries/Board and Parastatals to ensure strict adherent to budget provision in the interest of peace and for the socio-economic development of the state
