Suspected Ritualists Murder 62-year Old Hunchback In Edo

Four suspected ritualists who murdered a 62-year-old man and collected his hunchback in Urue village, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State have been arrested by the state Police Command.The suspects Ajuma Sunday, 36, Peter Olotu, 38, Sunday Okoro, 62 and a native doctor Philip Ogeneka, 50, who committed the act on Sunday, January 29, 2017, are among the 27 others paraded by the state command for various crimes.One of the suspects, Peter Olotu identified the old man as Oluma and said that he had volunteered to work in his farm for free so as to carry out the devious act.He said when Oluma was on his way to the farm to check on how he was doing the work, he strangulated him in the company of his friends and severed the spinal curvature from the body.He further confessed to have in connivance with other two boys now at large packaged the body part inside a jerrican of honey for it not to spoil before they were apprehended on their way to meet the native doctor in Ifon, Ondo State.LEADERSHIP gathered that they were said to have given bribe to the policemen on duty who refused but inquired to know the content of what they were carrying inside a jerrican.The Native doctor Philip Ogeneka who admitted telling other suspects of the possibility of making money through the killing of a hunchback, denied ever sending them to kill.The commissioner of Police in Edo State Mr Haliru Guandu who confirmed the incident however assured members of the public of improved security of lives and property in Edo and sued for patience and understanding with policemen on duty.
