NAPPS Tasks Govt On Falling Standard Of Education

The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) has called on the federal government to take urgent steps to salvage the falling standard of education in the country.The national president of the association, Dame Dr. Sally Bolujoko made the call yesterday in Abuja at the 2017 Leadership Retreat entitled: Leadership Dynamics in Organizational Management organisedby the association to equip its members with leadership skills aimed at preparing them for current leadership challenges of the present time.Dr. Bolujoko stated that the key to Nigerias transformation is in good education stressing that no nation can progress without its citizens being empowered educationally.We are not doing well enough and everybody including government must invest more in education. It is only education that can pull Nigeria out, nothing else, said Bolujoko.The experienced educationist also lamented the deplorable state of public schools in the country.In our public schools, we are mis-educated. We are not investing in structure, we are not investing in new knowledge, we are not investing in the teachers and the teachers standard is being eroded.The certificates by Nigeria Teachers Institute (NTI) are being hoarded and people are buying it without being able to defend it. Sowe must sit up because these are ruining the education system, Bolujoko said.
