Apostle Suleman Denies Making Inciting Statement, Says He Was Misquoted

Published by Leadership on Thu, 26 Jan 2017

Apostle Johnson Suleman of the Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide has denied media reports that he incited Christians against the Muslims in the country, saying that he was misquoted. The cleric said it was sinful for anyone to order a fellowman to kill a creation of God, describing the alleged comment as a misrepresentation of facts.Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, had prevented the man of God, who was in the state for a two-day revival from being arrested in Ado Ekiti by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), when they made spirited efforts to pick him up over a comment he made a couple of weeks ago, which the authorities branded as too caustic, inciting and inflammatory.Fayose while reacting to the development cautioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government to be mindful of how it handles issues bordering on religion in the country so as not to throw the country into religious crisis.Speaking through his special assistant on public communications, Lere Olayinka, the governor who said it is uncalled for and clear invitation to chaos challenged the security agencies in the country, especially the DSS to tell Nigerians how many of the Fulani herdsmen that killed thousands of Nigerians across the country have beenarrested, adding that; Nigerians, either Muslim or Christian deserve to be protected by the federal government, which controls all security apparatus in the country.Accusing federal government of indirectly supporting attack on Christians and other Muslim sects, especially the Shiites, by looking the other way, Fayose, called on the international community to intervene before Nigeria is thrown into major religious crisis.Speaking in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday on the contentious issue, the clergy clarified that his preaching on the said day centred on the need for the people to always defend themselves anytime the church is invaded by gunmen and not a direct incendiary comment that can make Christians and Muslims to confront one another.
