Jay Ajayi, Jarvis Landry Named to AFC's Pro Bowl 2017 Roster

Published by Bleacher Report on Thu, 12 Jan 2017

The Miami Dolphins announced Wednesday that running back Jay Ajayi and wide receiver Jarvis Landry have been added to the AFC's Pro Bowl roster. This is Ajayi's first selection to the Pro Bowl, while Landry will be headed to his second All-Star exhibition. After appearing in just nine games during his rookie season, Ajayi ran away with the Dolphins starting job in 2016, rushing for 1,272 yards and eight touchdowns. He was able to put up those numbers despite being held to 13 or fewer carries and fewer than 50 yards in each of his first four games. But after Arian Foster went down with an injury that eventually forced him to retire, Ajayi exploded in Weeks 6 and 7, posting 204 and 214 yards, respectively, with three total touchdowns, via the NFL:He went on to post an 111-yard game in Week 9 against the New York Jets, but that was his last 100-yard effort until Week 16, when he scorched the Buffalo Bills for 206 yards and a touchdown. Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell was the only other rusher in the league to record a 200-yard game this season. At wide receiver, Landry saw a small dip in production compared to last year, but he was still explosive within the Dolphins offense. The 24-year-old put up 94 receptions, which tied for the seventh-most in the NFL, for a 10th-ranked 1,136 yards and four touchdowns. He put up five 100-yard efforts while catching 71.8 percent of the passes that were thrown his way in 2016, according to Pro-Football-Reference.com.The Pro Bowl will take place Jan. 29 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, which will be a short trip for the Dolphins duo compared to the game's traditional site in Honolulu.
