Re: Turkey, Nigerian Journalists And Limits Of Propaganda

Published by Leadership on Sun, 08 Jan 2017

By Dare PhilipsThe ideals and philosophy of democratic governance has been accepted globally and any form of threat to this entrenched political ideology that has offered so much liberty and freedom has always been treated as treasonable. In Turkey, the democratic ideals have been so widely accepted that mass of the Turkish youths: men and women; the old and the young, at the expense of their lives, trooped out to challenge those who seek to turn back the hands of democracy and development in Turkey with the July 15, 2016 in mind. Not even the military that foiled the coup.If President Reccep Tayyip Erdogan was an inch close to the picture one Suleiman Uba Gaya, painted in his disjointed, inarticulate and mischievous piece, published on page 67 of LEADERSHIP Sunday of January 1, 2017, the large number of Turkish people who defied all odds to challenge the Gullenist sponsored coupists, wouldnt have done so.The write-up lacks logic and stood truth on its head. In the unfortunate article, Gaya accused President Erdogan of closing down about 180 media houses. Apart from the fact that the incoherent figures being brandished by Gaya is in continuation of the Gulen Movements hiring of professional propagandists around the world to deepen their spread of falsehood. To Gaya, his sponsors and pro Gulen journalists, laundering image and embarking on destructive propaganda for a coup sponsoring organisation is not enough offence against the state. Again, he showed the fallibility of his reasoning, when he described the Publishers and Editorial Boards support for Fetulah Movement as paper-weight offence. Isnt President Erdogan lenient for sparing the lives of coupists and their collaborators in the media, who rather than face the business of the noble profession of journalism stooped the becoming a mercenaries for a dubious organisation, whose main preoccupation is inculcating people with terroristic mindset.Gaya should be diligent in his presentations, even, if it entirely represents falsehood. He claimed that the Turkish government sponsored some select Nigerian journalists to Ankara and Istanbul and present them with half-truth. If his likes are not bereft of analytical mastery, he should have known that taking Nigeria journalists to Ankara and Istanbul, is an indication that the Erdogan government has nothing adsolutely, to hide. Turkey is not the first country to have internal questions but no country has ever been transparent as Turkey. Gaya dangled all manner of concocted figures in a desperate attempt to fetter his falsehoods. To pitch the men of pen profession (journalists) against the Ankara government, Gaya claimed that over two hundred journalists have been arrested, falling short of telling us where he got that ridiculous figure from.He did not stop at that, he wrote that 3, 465 judges and prosecutors have been dismissed so far, 159 high ranking military Generals dismissed, 5, 266 military officers arrested, 2, 346 academics dismissed, 2,099 Schools and Dormitories shot down, 1, 254 nonprofit organisations dismissed, with a total of 104, 914 workers dismissed from service. From the foregoing, it is clear that these pro-Gullenist journalists are suffering from collective amnesia. This has blurred their reasoning from questioning fabricated and dubious figures supplied by their hirers to further their agenda of reducing Turkey to a laughing stock among the comity of nations.Gaya, in his worse stage professional hysteria, claimed that President Erdogan was perfecting plans to build 174 new jails to hold all his victims. He did not stop at that, in his uncoordinated rush to please his paymasters, and to show that he suffers from manic hangover, he did not spear the revered clerics. For instance, he claimed that, the well-respected Ankara Imam, Nuretti Yildiz was convincing President Erodogan to kill all those arrested as well as every Hizmet or Gulenist. This wild and spurious allegations from Gaya and sponsors is capable of undermining the prevailing peace in Turkey, which was their main aim for plotting the July 15, 2016 coup. To distract President Erdogan from his massive task of transforming Turkey to a developed economy.I dont know which Turkey the haze writer was referring to, when he claimed in his ill-fated write-up that, In Turkey today, brother has turned against brother, sister against sister, son against father. If it is so, how comes Turkish are rallying in their hundreds of thousands on weekly basis, in support of Erdogans government' To rise against a performing and focused government such as the one led by Erdogan is to say the least; demeaning. If the Movement stands for anything good, why not engage their home government, instead of plotting a military coup that would dent the enviable democratic credentials Turkey has come to be reckoned with! This Group should turn a new leave by prioritising the interest of their country. And the only way they can do that is by joining hands with Erdogans government in giant strides in its effort to transform Turkey.Journalists like Gaya by their activities are lowering the prestige of this noble profession. He proved that he was writing out of inducement and not out any verifiable fact as indicated in his ill-conceived write-up. He confirmed that he was sponsored on a trip to Turkey by Ufuk Foundation or Hizmet Movement. Perhaps Gayas mundane write-up was meant as gratitude but it is badly written and is objectivity dented. Philips, a public commentator, wrote in from Maitama, Abuja
