ECOWAS Donates $1.4m To Borno State IDPs

The National Emergency Management Agency and Economic Community of West African State (ECOWAS) have presented foods, building materials and $1400,000.00to support the well fare of the Internally Displaced Persons at the weekend in Maiduguri, Borno state.In a statement signed by the spokesperson of NEMA, Sani Datti, while handing over a cheque of $1 million and $0.4million for food from ECOWAS reserves to the Borno state Governor, Kashim Shetima, the ECOWAS President, H.E. Marcel de Souza, said they were in Borno to share the feelings and concerns for IDPs and refugees in Nigeria and pledged to do everything possible to support them.He noted that the director general of NEMA Muhammad Sani Sidi also handed over foods and building materials including 2600 bundles of roofing sheet, 2500 piece ceiling boards, 350 bags of 3nails, 350 packets of zinc nails to assist the Borno state government on the ongoing effort of reconstructing houses in Bama, Hawul and Ganborin Gala communities destroyed by insurgency.Others include 3600 bag of rice, 1400 bags of bean, 1000 bags of millet.Receiving the items, the Borno state Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shetima, appreciated NEMA for the continues support to the IDPs and ECOWAS for the donations and assured that the items will get to beneficiaries.
