House Rejects Police Vehicle Verification Stickers For Motorists

The House of Representatives on Tuesday rejected a motion which sought to introduce Police Vehicle Verification Stickers (PVVCS)for vehicle in the country so as to aid the fight against crime.The member representing egbor/Ikpoba-okha federal constituency of Edo state, EhiozuwaAgbonayinma, in a motion noted that terrorists, kidnappers and robbers usually operate with stolen or vehicles and vehicles with fake particulars to perpetrate their evil.According to him, the alarming state of insecurity in the country because there was not security encoded sticker affixed to every vehicle.He explained that the PVVCS would enhance the ability of the Nigeria Police to promptly respond to cases of stolen vehicles, as the security encoded sticker with darkness enabled reflector will facilitate the synchronisation and exhanche data between police and other law enforcement agencies.There must be a system that will protect life and property, the rate of criminality in this country is becoming overbearing this motion seeks to support the law enforcements to efficiently discharge their duties, he said.Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara caution that the motion borders on security, and it should be treated carefully. It was however rejected by a majority vote on the floor.
