Local Governments Under Absolute Control Of StatesAregbesola

The governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has declared that local governments would remain absolutely under the control and ambience of the states and that the only organ of the state empowered by the constitution to make laws for them remained the state parliament.Aregbesola equally stated that Nigerias diversity would even be more beautiful if it was limited to cultural diversity and beauty.Aregbesola, speaking during the courtesy visit and conferment of the titles of Nwannedinamba Ndigbo of Osun and Ezinne Ndigbo of Osun, on him and his wife, respectively, by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Osun State chapter, in partnership with the Association of Ndi Ezeigbo Nuzo Ije (Igbos in the Diaspora) and the South East Council of Traditional Rulers at the 2016 Igbo Cultural Festival Tagged: Ode NIgbo 2016, at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo.Aregbesola described the belief gaining grounds that local governments in Nigeria should be independence of state governments as totally strange and anti-federalism,noting that there remained only two tiers of government in a federal system, namely the Federal government and the government at the federating level.
