Bastian Schweinsteiger, Manchester United Discussed by Bayern's Uli Hoeness

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has said Bastian Schweinsteiger should "make Manchester United bleed" for their recent treatmentof the former Germany international.Schweinsteiger was included in the matchday squad for the Red Devils' 1-1 draw with West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday in a surprise move from manager Jose Mourinho, who had previously frozen out the former Bayern man for much of the 2016-17 campaign, per the Press Association (via theGuardian).Hoeness is clearly unimpressed with how Bayern legendSchweinsteiger, 32, has been treated at Old Trafford and insistedUnited deserve to be punished, per Stefan Coerts of Goal:"I would let them [United] bleed until the last day and then say goodbye.I would play golf every month, offer United my work and accompany [wife] Ana Ivanovic to tennis matches.A club like that should be punished [for how they've treated him]."Schweinsteiger was signed for United from Bayern by former manager Louis van Gaal in 2015, and his deal with the Manchester club runs to 2018.Given how he has been marginalised under Mourinho, though, it seems unlikely he will see out his deal at Old Trafford.It was previously reported that he has held talks withMLS club Chicago Fire and could potentially move to the United States, per the Press Association (viatheGuardian).PerAS'David F.Sanchidrian, Brazilian club Santos have also confirmed their interest in the German midfielder, who could be pushed out of Old Trafford as early as January.There have even been reports he could return to Bayern, where he won eight Bundesliga titles and a UEFA Champions League, perSport Bild(via Sky Sports'Allan Valente).However,Hoeness suggestedSchweinsteiger may actually now be on the edge of retirement, per Coerts: "From what I have heard, Basti is close to retiring from football.I do not think we would be doing him or ourselves a favour with a return to Bayern."His prospects at United certainly do not look that great, even though he was finally named in a first-team squad on Sunday.The 2014 FIFA World Cup winner could well have a lot to offer, but it seems he is going to have to move elsewhere to prove it.
