Los Angeles Lakers point guard D'Angelo Russell is dealing with a knee issue that will sideline him for a couple of games.Continue for updates.Latest on Russell's Playing StatusTuesday, Nov. 22Baxter Holmes of ESPN.com reported that Russell has a sore left knee and will not play on Tuesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder or on Wednesday against the Golden State Warriors.Under a new coach in Luke Walton and with the retirement of Kobe Bryant, Russell has given the NBA and Lakers fans a better idea of just how good his game can be.Through seven games, he averaged 16.1 points with 4.8 assists per game as the Lakers started the year at 7-7.For a team that went 17-65 last season, the Lakers didn't have seven wins until January.Russell has provided a solid offensive presence at the point, exhibiting an aggressive brand of basketball that sees him cut to the basket along with an improved game from deep:The injury is bad timing for Russell and the Lakers as they will be taking on two of the strongest teams in the Western Conference.Without his offensive game, it's unlikely that Los Angeles will have the offensive firepower to keep up with the likes of Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry over the next two nights.Jose Calderon will step in for Russell while he rests.
