Defence Minister Assures Troops Of Regular Rotation

The Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali has assured troops of the Operation Lafia Dolein the north east of regular rotation saying that the military does not have enough personnel to rotate every one at the same time.Ali stated this on Tuesday in Abuja while briefing journalist on line up ofactivities for 2017 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration with the themeAppreciating the Resilience of the Nigerian Armed Forces.He said rotation is on going at the moment adding that several Brigades have been redeployed to the South South forOperation Delta Safe while alsocommending the troops for thesacrifices being made in the on going war against insurgency to maintain national peace and security.There is what we call rotation online, offline. You cannot remove somebody just like that, you are not rotating cows. You are rotating human beings who are manning security points. So please be rest assured, as time goes on, everybody will be rotated in that region the minister said.He further said military has its tradition concerning personnel who sustain injury in the battle front. He said wounded soldiersare normally assessed after treatment if you are found unhealthy to go back, then you can be kept aside. But the moment you are treated and you are found capable enough, then definitely, you have to go back he said.Ali said the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration is done annually to reassure the immediate families and relatives of the fallen combatant that the nation will continue to be with themin paying respect to departed family members.He alsosaid payments of pensions and gratuities to retired military personnel is now prompt and regular adding that pension is now harmonized.High light of the occasion was the launch of the Military Pension Board (MPB) identity card which will hence forth be used during the annual retirees verification.Chairman of the MPB, Air Vice Marshal M. Dabo said the card will be used to correct the use of mutilated documents during verificationsaying that it has bio data ofall retirees with records of their service.Dabosaid the retirees card can be usedat AutomatedTeller Machines (ATM), to transact business, used at retailers shop, supermarkets and at every Point of Sale (POS) across the nation. He said the retirees will get 40 percent discount on every goods and service the card is used to purchase.
