Published by Leadership on Sun, 30 Oct 2016

President of the United Church of Christ in Nigeria (HEKAN) Reverend (Dr) Emmanuel N, Dziggau while commending the President Muhammadu Buharis fight against corruption has also urged him to ensure that the fight is holistic irrespective of status or political party. This is just as he stressed that there should be no sacred cows in the corruption fight, adding that whoever is found guilty of corruption or may have amassed wealth illegally should be made to face the full wrath of the law.Reverend Dziggau stated this in his valedictory address delivered during the 50th Annual convention of the church with the theme More Than Conquerors in Kaduna.Meanwhile, he said, President Buharis corruption fight now can best be described as scratching just the surface, saying, if holistic measures aimed at blocking the leakages are not adequately put in place and backed up with sustainable government policies, it may take no fewer than fifty years to wipe out corruption in Nigeria. He averred that the lack of continuity in governance and government policies is largely responsible for the unsuccessful efforts of fighting corruption. The fight against corruption should be done irrespective status or political belongings. Corruption has eaten deep into the fabrics of the nation at all levels. There should be no sacred cows in this fight. Those found to have amassed wealth illegally should be made to face the law.On the insurgency ravaging the north eastern part of the country, Reverend Dziggau commending governments efforts at restoring relative peace to. The troubled areas and reclaiming local governments earlier taken over by the insurgents. The gallantry of the Nigerian Armed Forces in fighting insurgency is highly commendable. This should be sustained to give hope to returning Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) back to their villages. The release of 21 abducted Chibok girls recently is commendable. It is our prayers that the remaining girls in captivity will also gain their freedom. Soon.
