Serge Aurier Given 2-Month Prison Sentence for Violence Towards Police Officers

Paris Saint-Germain defender Serge Aurier has been hit with a two-month prison sentence for violence towards police officers, although hes unlikely to serve any jail time.Eurosport reported the sentence on Monday, although it was noted the conviction is convertible, meaning he can carry out community service instead of spending the two months behind bars. The 23-year-old has also been fined 600 (520) and incurred 1,500 (1,300) in costs.As noted in the piece, Aurier has already confirmed he will appeal the decision, and hes still expected to feature in PSGs clash with Ludogorets in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, per BBC.The sanction is in relation to an incident that occurred outside a Paris nightclub in May, when Aurier is said to have abused and acted aggressively towards two officers.After a positive start to the campaign at PSG, the Ivory Coast international was given his marching orders for two yellow cards on Friday on his return to former club Toulouse. The French champions eventually fell to a 2-0 defeat.Its been a tough year for Aurier, who was suspended by PSG in February after derogatory comments made about former manager Laurent Blanc and other team-mates on social media, per the Press Association (h/t the Guardian).
