Ooni Ogunwusi Set To Build Watchtower In ife

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, is planning to build a watchtower in the city, which he recently declared a tourism zone.The tower, according to the proprietor of La Campaigne Tropicana, Chief Wanle Adeboboye, is part of the monuments that the traditional ruler will soon unveil in Ife.According to Adeboboye, the king wants to open up the city while building peace and harmony across Yorubaland and beyond.He noted in a statement that that was part of the reason the Oba attended the Modakeke Day and, most recently, the 45th anniversary of the reign of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.A businessman, the Ooni who is the owner of Inagbe Resort, one of the few privately-run resorts located across Lagos waters.Ariel view of Inagbe ResortsAkinboboye said in the statement, 'Oba Ogunwusi has, from the first day of assumption of office, not hidden his resolve to elevate the historical and abundant cultural wealth of his people by opening it to the world through massive investment in tourism-related projects, which are aimed at transforming Ife from a mere tourism attraction to a mega tourism destination.'To this end, the Kabiyesi will declare Ife a tourism zone and start the development into a tourism destination of world class standard.
