NFL Predictions Week 16: Picks Guide, Odds Advice and Schedule Info

Published by Bleacher Report on Sun, 27 Dec 2015

The week of blowouts will only continue, folks.Saturday started off the holiday-themed fireworks in the right manner as Washington took down the Philadelphia Eagles in 38-24 fashion.Moving forward things get even more lopsided, at least on paper, which is what happens when teams such as the Cleveland Browns and St. Louis Rams have to keep slogging through a lost season. With playoffs on the line for some and draft positioning for everyone else, here's a look at the rest of the Week 16 slate, how Las Vegas feels and predictions.NFL Week 16 OddsOdds courtesy of Odds Shark.Late Odds to Bet Pittsburgh (-10) at BaltimoreRemember when this rivalry was a big deal'It sure isn't this year, not when the Baltimore Ravens sit on four wins and have lost notables such as Joe Flacco, Justin Forsett and Steve Smith to injury. The first meeting back in Week 4 was a tad more important, but Baltimore took a 23-20 overtime decision while Flacco threw a score, Smith tied for a team high in targets and Forsett ran for 150 yards.Oh, and the Steelers had Mike Vick under center.Speaking of quarterback, ESPN.com's Jamison Hensley revealed the Ravens will start Ryan Mallett against the Steelers, a guy they signed 11 days prior to the game:Pittsburgh doesn't have issues under center. The Steelers have won three in a row while scoring a minimum of 33 points behind the efforts of Ben Roethlisberger, who has seven touchdowns to three interceptions in that span.Big Ben and his host of weapons won't have any problems against a defense coughing up 25.7 points per game, and the hobbled Baltimore offense won't have a chance at keeping pace.Prediction: Steelers 36, Ravens 10 San Francisco at Detroit (-10)Another huge line, with more bountiful reasons to take the over. The top reason to take the Detroit Lions over the San Francisco 49ers here would be the woeful state of the latter, a four-win team without much in the way of anything on either side of the ball.San Francisco has lost four of its last five, over its last two losses getting walloped by a combined score of 48-24, one of those losses at the hands of the Cleveland Browns. The defense just isn't stopping anything right now and the Blaine Gabbert-led offense continues to self-destruct, as last time out he tossed one score with three picks. Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle provided some perspective on the situation at running back:Detroit deserves some credit, of course. The Lions just went to New Orleans and picked up a win to halt a two-game skid. Matthew Stafford and Co. have now won four of their last six, including playing Green Bay close once and even beating them on the road. While Detroit's defense won't blow anyone away, Stafford's playing like the Lions could have only hoped he would the entire season, having thrown 12 touchdowns to one interception over the course of his last four games.Pair a booming Lions offense with not much of anything from the 49ers and the result isn't too hard to figure out.Prediction: Lions 23, 49ers 10Cleveland at Kansas City (-11)The award for ugliest game of the week might go to the Cleveland Browns-Kansas City Chiefs encounter.Kansas City would be the perfect example of what can happen to a team when everything goes right. The Chiefs have rattled off eight wins in a row and might have a shot at making a late push for the AFC West."We just put our heads down," coach Andy Reid said, according to ESPN.com. "We try to do that every week. It's just winning or losing in this league is a small margin between it. I felt like we were close, but you have to do it."During the streak, the Kansas City offense has posted 29 or more points six times while quarterback Alex Smith has thrown 10 touchdowns to one interception. The Browns have a different sort of trend going on thanks to eight losses in their last nine, the only win coming against the aforementioned 49ers. As the starter once again, Johnny Manziel has a pair of touchdowns and interceptions over two games.Cleveland not only doesn't generate enough offense to compete, the defense ranks 22nd against the pass (252.9 yards allowed per game) and 31st against the rush (134.9), not to mention 31st in scoring (27.6).With aspirations of solid standing in the postseason, look for the Chiefs to come out swinging for the fences at home and hit on several big plays while putting big distance between them and the ready-for-drafting Browns.Prediction: Chiefs 35, Browns 14Stats courtesy ofNFL.comand accurateas of December 27.
